Why The KJV is Profitable Today

• It is a literal translation that honors the very words of God. It does not use a dynamic equivalent (thought for thought) translation method. The very words of the Bible were inspired; not the thoughts. 2 Timothy 3:16

• It bears a beautiful poetic quality and possesses a graceful cadence.

• It is a translation lovingly accepted by the Church. This beloved version is still cherished even after almost four hundred years. It stands the test of time.

• It is a translation with global recognition. The Church world-wide continues to use this version. No other version has held the ‘high ground’ like this one.

• It is translation made by exceptional men in the Providence of God. It is evident the chosen men skillfully worked from the original languages and understood their duty.

• It is a translation incorporating the work of William Tyndale. Much of the KJV New Testament is directly from Tyndale’s original work. William Tyndale was a linguist par excellence and perhaps has not been equaled since. He died at the stake for translating the Bible into English.

• It is a translation based upon the Sovereignty of God. Those Reformation era Christians were graciously used of God in the work of this translation.

• It is based upon the best Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. Most of the known ancient traditional Hebrew and Greek manuscripts correspond with the KJV.

• It retains distinct singular and plural pronouns. [e.g. Thee = you singular Ye = you plural] This helpful distinction gives the reader a great advantage.

• It is gender specific and not gender neutral or gender inclusive. [E.g. the word ‘he’ is translated ‘he’ and not changed to ‘it,’ ‘she,’ or ‘them.’]

• It is a great seller. Many people still use it for reading and study. Many people give it as gifts, which helps foster Christian unity.

• It has some of the most loved phrases in the English language such as: “And God said, Let there be light; and there was light” “Let not your heart be troubled;” “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” “but with God, all things are possible” “be not weary in well doing” “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” Behold, I stand at the door and knock” and “the signs of the times.”

• It has some words we may need to use such as “dispensation” and “esteem.” [Older (archaic) words are easily looked up in a dictionary.]

• It is the preserved Word of God for us who speak English. We can confidently read the KJV and say “thus saith the LORD.”
