Fast Facts: Mormon Beliefs
Mormons believe the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. They believe of equal value to the Bible are: Book of Mormon, Doctrine of Covenants, Pearl of Great Price.
The Bible says we have God’s word just as he said and it is sufficient to determine what we believe and how we live. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 2 Peter 1:20-21
Mormons believe their top leader to be a modern prophet like Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
The Bible says prophets are God’s spokesmen and no one today should add to His Words. Deut. 13:1-5 18:20-22 Revelation 22:18-19
Mormons believe all churches are apostate and the Mormon church is the one true church. They believe the true church was restored to Joseph Smith.
The Bible says the Church is built by the Lord upon Jesus Christ. God laid the foundation upon the apostles and prophets of the New Testament. Joseph Smith is not found in the Bible. Matthew 16:18 I Corinthians 3:11 Ephesians 2:20
The Mormons believe in many gods (polytheistic). They believe the Trinity consists of three Gods and not three persons within one Godhead.
The Bible says there is only one God. Deuteronomy 6:4 Mark 12:29
The Mormons believe you can become a God. One quote says “as man is, God once was, as God is, man may become.” (emphasis added)
The Bible says there are no other Gods. Satan’s deceit is to fool people that they may become a god. Exodus 20:3 Isaiah 45:21-22 Mark 12:32 Genesis 3:4
The Mormons believe God was once a man.
The Bible says God is not a man but is a spirit. A spirit is not physical. Numbers 23:19 John 4:24 Luke 24:39

The Mormons believe the unsaved dead can become saved after they die.

Mormons believe in salvation by works as revealed by the angel Moroni (Nephi).

The Mormons believe in four stages to salvation: faith in Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
