What's In A Name?

Why is the name of this ministry called The Revelation Road? The word revelation means that something is unveiled or disclosed. God has told us in his word that there are two kinds of revelation; general revelation and special (specific) revelation. General revelation is that which is made known to everyone, even without reading the Bible. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20). Creation itself speaks for God. Just by being alive in the world, people know there is a God. For example, when one looks around at the marvel of the sun, moon and stars, those created things testify of his awesome eternal greatness. Considering variety and design in the plants and animals, one can clearly see the mark left of a caring and creative designer. And when the complexity and intricacy of man is thought upon, one must honestly come to the conclusion that he is “fearfully and wonderfully made”. “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalms 139:14) People also know the difference between right and wrong. God has given each one a conscience, knowing the difference between good and evil. “Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness.” (Romans 2:15a) When a person dies, there are two general things common to all people which can testify against him: creation and conscience. After death, no one will stand before God and say “I didn't know You existed! I was an atheist and did not know there was a God!”. Everyone knows in his heart that there is a God. God has revealed he exists by using general revelation in the creation all around us. And two, there will not be an excuse for people to say: “I didn't know that was wrong!” “I did not know I was doing evil!” Each one's conscience bears witness what is right and what is wrong. We are all without an excuse before a righteous and holy God. Every one in the world knows there is a God.

There is also special revelation. Special revelation refers to specific things we would not know only by observing the creation and by living in this world. God revealed these specific things to us in the Bible, his Book to us. There are things in the Bible made known to us we would not know from any other source. Some of the things God has revealed to us by special revelation are: the Trinity, Heaven, Hell, Angels, Satan, Israel, the Church, Christ's sacrifice on the cross for us, Salvation by faith alone, the Rapture, the future Millennial Kingdom reign of Christ, and much more.

The Revelation Road is dedicated to upholding, researching, explaining, and proclaiming the Bible, God's revelation to us. So, in this way, revelation stands first of all for the entire Bible. The central Person of the Bible is the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus is the central Person of this ministry too. The Greek word for Revelation is the word Apocalypse. Apocalypse means to reveal, uncover, or to make known something which was not previously known. The last book of the Bible bears the title Revelation. This book of Revelation reveals and explains things concerning Christ, Salvation, the Church, the nation Israel, the Tribulation, the Second Coming of Christ, Christ's Millennial Kingdom, Judgment, Satan, Angels, the Lake of Fire, and Eternity. God is glorified in all of these persons, places, and events revealed in this last book of the Bible. We are now most likely living in the extreme end of the Church Age. The Church will soon be taken away to heaven (the Rapture) and the seven year Tribulation is about to fall upon the earth. The Church has always had various difficulties and trials over its 2,000 year history. Nevertheless, we are living in the last days for the Church Age. Never before have world events been ripe and available for the Antichrist to rule and the Tribulation to begin (but only after the Rapture). A thorough study of the book of Revelation brings to light Christ is exalted as the central theme. Perhaps no other book of the Bible gives so many wonderful and majestic details concerning this Person of Persons - Jesus Christ. To know and follow the book of Revelation is to know and follow Christ. The Revelation Road seeks to honor Christ. Revelation in the ministry name thus points to the Person of Christ as revealed in the entire Bible, and specifically in the book of Revelation. The Revelation Road is a special End Times ministry. This ministry is available as an anchor in the midst of the sea of apostate religions. When other Bible teaching is confusing, neglected, or ignored, this ministry is available to point back to the right direction of grace and fellowship with the Lord of the Bible. Churches and Bible teaching ministries are stepping away from the truth of the Bible. This departure from truth in the Bible is predicted, even though perilous and grieving. We must stay true to the Bible and rightly divide the Word (2 Timothy 2:15; Acts 17:11) even though others may not.

The Revelation Road seeks to help people find out which road they are on: the road to heaven or the road to hell. Exhortation is provided for those on the wrong road to get onto the right road. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14) There are two roads, the one to destruction (hell) and the one to life (heaven). Jesus told us the road (way) to heaven: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Self effort and a denial of God will send one to Hell apart from the Lord forever. The Lord knows all of us are sinners. Out of his great love for us, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. After he was buried he rose from the grave. One's sin must be acknowledged before the righteous God. When that one trusts Christ as his Saviour, he will be on the road to Heaven.

The Revelation Road gives witness that Jesus Christ is “The” only way to heaven. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5; see also John 14:6)
