The KJV retains the helpful singular and plural personal pronouns. Pronouns beginning with the letter “t” are singular (thou, thee, thy, thine). Pronouns beginning with the letter “y” are plural (ye, you). These important distinctions are not maintained in modern translations. The KJV gives a great advantage to its readers in this regard. The reader can know if the singular or plural is being referred to without being required to know the original language.

Subjective case is used for the subject or predicate nominative. Objective case is used for objects (such as a direct object). Possessive case is used for showing ownership.

Use the chart to help give meaning to these verses:

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,)

I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.  Luke 5:24

Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.  Psalms 146:1
