Texas 2-Step Apple Crisp


6 cooking apples, cored, peeled and sliced

1 ½ c. all-purpose flour

1 c. brown sugar, packed

1 T. cinnamon

½ t. nutmeg

¼ t. ground ginger

¾ c. butter, softened

Garnish: vanilla ice cream, whipped topping, maraschino cherries


Arrange apple slices in a greased slow cooker; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients except garnish in a bowl. Mix well and sprinkle over apples, pressing down lightly. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 hours, until apples are tender. Garnish as desired. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
