Sometimes we remember where we were during momentous events. Where were you at 9/11? Where were you when JFK was shot? One day everyone will answer: “Where were you when the Rapture happened?” The Rapture is the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to receive his saved ones into Heaven. The Rapture will occur just prior to the seven years of Tribulation on the Earth. The Bible declares:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
The Lord's saved ones, those who have placed their full trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation, will be caught up to meet the Lord in the clouds at the Rapture. 'Rapture' means a snatching away. The Bible says we shall be “caught up” to meet the Lord. True Christians will be snatched from the Earth to go to Heaven without dying. This catching away of believers will occur in order to remove them from the coming wrath, the seven years of Tribulation. “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
How will you answer? Where will you be during this wondrous event? Will you be one who has been saved by the blood of Christ and the Lord removed you from the Earth? Or, will you be one who had not yet believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation and you had to be left behind?
Understanding the Rapture is as easy as knowing the difference between up and down. Believers go up to be with the Lord at the Rapture. Unbelievers stay down on the Earth at the time of the Rapture. How can you know for sure if you will go up to Heaven or must stay down when Christ comes to retrieve his believers? “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3
